Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility means that companies accept their responsibility to include social values such as care for the environment, climate and working conditions in their purchasing and production processes.
Sustainability as a driving force.
Anne-lore by Van Herck supports the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to strive for a sustainable future.
Our daily operations are already permeated by sustainable principles in a large number of areas, but together with Voka we have drawn up a number of working points that we will work on this year.
We take care of our employees by creating a safe and healthy working environment. In addition, it is important to ensure that every employee feels appreciated. With subcontractors, too, we aim to build long-term partnerships that ensure continuity in the production process. For some products, we also appeal to sheltered workshops. In this way, we help to provide people with a disability with suitable and sustainable employment.
CSR is not only important in our own production process, but also in the selection of our suppliers of raw materials and commodities.
As Van Herck ltd, we choose to work exclusively with high-quality raw materials that carry the OEKOTEX
® Standard 100 certificate, which proves that they are produced with respect for people and the environment and do not contain any harmful substances. Production waste is kept to a minimum and is sorted for recycling if possible. Production waste of certain fabrics is collected by a day centre for disabled people to be used as stuffing for cushions.
When we develop products, we always do so with a view to reusability and longevity. We choose our raw materials and haberdashery carefully in order to meet this objective.
We also try to choose packaging materials as ecologically as possible. For more than 30 years, we have used only recycled cardboard boxes for shipping. This year, we have partially switched to paper tape to replace PVC. For plastic bags and stretch film, we have recently switched to recycled versions.
As we do not use water in our production process, pollution is negligible. We use LED lighting throughout the building and last year had solar panels installed on the roof. The energy we generate is used not only for the production process but also for charging our cars and bicycles. We have currently completely converted our vehicle fleet to more environmentally friendly hybrid vehicles.
